Chatpata

Privacy Policy · Last updated September 8, 2026

Chatpata (also called Masala during development) is a real-time bluffing party game: one player sees a secret prompt, everyone else invents a convincing lie, and the group votes on which answer is true. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and how you can get it deleted.

01 Information we collect

Account & profile. To play, you sign in with an email address or as an anonymous guest. Your profile can include a display name and an avatar or profile photo you upload.

Gameplay content. When you play, we store the game rooms you join, the bluffs and answers you submit, and your votes — this is how scoring and the reveal work, and it's visible to the other players in your room in real time.

"Busted Card" photos. If you choose to use this feature, Chatpata can capture a photo (from your camera or photo library) when you're caught bluffing, to show during the round recap. This photo is only ever visible to players in that same game room and is optional.

Custom questions. Any trivia prompts you write and submit are stored so they can be served back into future rounds.

Purchases. If you buy anything in-app, we record the purchase to unlock the relevant content — payment details themselves are handled entirely by Apple/Google, not by us.

Device & diagnostic data. Standard technical data (app version, crash logs, rough device type) to keep the app working.

02 How we use it

  • Run the real-time game loop — rooms, prompts, bluffs, votes, scoreboards.
  • Show your name, avatar, and Busted Card to the other players currently in your room.
  • Keep a history of your custom questions and purchases tied to your account.
  • Diagnose crashes and improve the app.

We do not use your gameplay content or photos for advertising, and we do not sell your data.

03 Where it's stored

Chatpata runs on Supabase (hosted Postgres + realtime + storage), with row-level security policies restricting each player to the rooms and rows they actually belong to. Data is encrypted in transit. Uploaded photos are stored in access-controlled storage buckets, not shared publicly.

04 Your choices

  • Skip the Busted Card feature entirely — it's optional, not required to play.
  • Play as an anonymous guest instead of creating an email account.
  • Request a copy or deletion of your data at any time — see contact below.

05 Children's privacy

Chatpata is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

06 Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and, where required, notify you in-app.
