Privacy policy
Lantern works fully on your device, with no account required. This page explains exactly what the small amount of optional data we do handle is, why, and how to delete it.
01 Information we collect
Name & email — only if you link a Google account. Lantern works anonymously by default; if you choose "Save my data" to make your tasks recoverable across devices, your Google name and email are stored for that purpose.
Your tasks & Regulars. What you capture — task titles, notes, scheduled items, and recurring "Regulars" — is stored (locally always, and in our backend whenever it's reachable) so Lantern can build Today's list and remember what carries forward across devices.
Nothing above is ever sold, shared with advertisers, or shared with any third party.
02 What we don't collect
No advertising or analytics SDKs are built into Lantern at all. We don't collect your location, financial or payment info, photos, contacts, health data, browsing history, device or advertising identifiers, or crash/diagnostic logs. Reminders are scheduled entirely on your device — no push token is collected or sent to us.
03 Voice capture
Voice-to-text uses your device's own built-in speech recognition (Android/Google or iOS/Apple), which may briefly send audio to that platform's own servers to produce the transcription — governed by Google's or Apple's privacy policy, not ours. Lantern itself never receives or stores the audio, only the resulting text. Typing instead of speaking is always available.
04 Morning energy check-in
Your daily energy check-in (high / low / "I'll see how it goes") stays entirely on your device — it's used only to shape how much "Suggest my day" fills up that day, and is never sent to us.
05 Break this down (AI)
This feature splits a task into smaller steps. In the current release it always runs as a local, template-based feature — no task text leaves your device for it today. If a future update sends task text to an AI provider to generate real steps instead, this page — and Lantern's Play Store Data Safety declaration — will be updated first, and it will remain something you can decline.
06 Where it's stored & security
Lantern's source of truth is local storage on your device. When our backend is reachable, the same data is mirrored to Supabase (hosted Postgres + Auth), scoped by row-level security so only your own account can ever read or write your rows. All traffic — to our backend and to Google during sign-in — is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
07 Deleting your data
Delete your content, right now, in-app. Open Lantern → Profile → Data & privacy → Reset all data. This immediately erases every task, Regular, and setting, on-device and in the cloud backup — no waiting period.
Delete your account entirely (the Google-linked identity itself, if you set one up) — since this can't yet be done from inside the app, email reach@devindi.in from the address you signed in with, and we'll confirm deletion within a few days.
08 Children's privacy
Lantern is a general-audience productivity tool, not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
09 This website
This website (not the app) measures how visitors use devindi.in: pages viewed, the site that linked you here, clicks, how far you scroll, time on each page, and your device type, browser, language and time zone. Some visits are saved as an anonymous replay of scrolling, mouse movement and clicks; anything typed into a form is hidden before it is saved. A random ID is kept in your browser to tell visits apart. We don't store your IP address, don't use advertising trackers, and never sell or share this data; it stays in our own database (hosted by Supabase). If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, none of this runs.
10 Changes to this policy
If what Lantern collects changes, this page changes first — the date above always reflects the latest revision. Meaningful changes (like the AI note above) will also be reflected in the app's Play Store listing.
