Terms & conditions
ShiftDrop is a free utility for Windows, macOS and Linux made by devIndi. By downloading or using it you agree to these terms. They're short because the app is simple.
01 Licence
ShiftDrop is free, open-source software released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0. You may use it, share it and modify it under that licence. The complete source code is available as a download.
02 Your files, your responsibility
- ShiftDrop never overwrites or deletes your originals; it always saves results as new files beside them. Still, keep backups of anything important.
- Conversions can lose information: Word → PDF keeps text but not formatting, compressed images lose some quality, and complex PDFs may not convert to Word perfectly. Check the result before relying on it.
- Redact covers or pixelates the area you choose in the saved image only. Check the result before sharing anything sensitive.
- Only convert files you have the right to use.
03 No warranty
ShiftDrop is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, as set out in sections 15 and 16 of the AGPL-3.0. To the extent permitted by law, devIndi isn't liable for data loss or other damage arising from using it.
04 Open-source components
ShiftDrop is built on the work of other open-source projects, each under its own licence:
- Qt for Python (PySide6) — LGPL-3.0
- PyMuPDF — AGPL-3.0
- pdf2docx, python-docx — MIT
- Pillow — MIT-CMU; pillow-heif — BSD-3-Clause (with libheif, LGPL-3.0, and x265, GPL-2.0)
- OpenCV — Apache-2.0; NumPy, lxml — BSD
05 Changes
We may update these terms when new versions are released; the date above will always show the latest revision.
