Terms Privacy

SlipTide is a torrent client: it runs on your own computer and connects directly to other people's computers to share files. The short version: we don't collect anything. There is no account, no analytics and no ads, and nothing is ever sent to devIndi.

01 What other peers can see

This is how BitTorrent works, in every torrent app, and it's worth knowing:

  • Your IP address is visible to the other computers you share a torrent with, and to the trackers that help you find them.
  • They can see which torrent you're downloading or seeding, how much of it you have, and the name and version of the app you use.
  • Turning on encryption in Settings hides the contents of peer traffic from your network, but not your IP address from the peers themselves.

Only download and share files you have the right to.

02 Who SlipTide connects to

  • Peers and trackers for the torrents you add, including public trackers that Tracker boost adds to public torrents (you can turn it off in Settings).
  • The DHT network and other computers on your local network, to find peers without a tracker.
  • Your router, through UPnP / NAT-PMP, to open a port so peers can reach you (you can turn it off).
  • Web addresses you give it: a link to a .torrent file, an IP blocklist, or the web seeds listed inside a torrent.

SlipTide never contacts devIndi, and it doesn't check for updates.

03 What stays on your computer

  • Your downloads, in the folder you choose (Downloads\SlipTide by default).
  • Settings, your torrent list, lifetime totals and your saved download folders (with how many torrents of each kind went to each, so the Add window can suggest them), in %APPDATA%\SlipTide, or in the SlipTide-data folder beside the portable version.
  • A local error log (error.log in the same folder), only if something goes wrong. It never leaves your computer unless you choose to send it to us.

While the Add window is open, a magnet link's file list is fetched from peers into a temporary folder that is deleted when you add or cancel. The built-in player streams through a private address on your own computer (127.0.0.1) that other devices can't reach. SlipTide checks your clipboard for a magnet link only when you switch to it, and nothing it reads is stored or sent.

04 Downloading SlipTide

The installer is hosted on GitHub, so GitHub's own privacy statement covers the download itself. This website uses Google Fonts, which receives standard request information (such as your IP address) when the page loads.

05 Feedback

If you send feedback through the devIndi feedback form or by email, we receive only what you choose to write, and use it only to reply and improve SlipTide.

06 This website

This website (not the app) measures how visitors use devindi.in: pages viewed, the site that linked you here, clicks, how far you scroll, time on each page, and your device type, browser, language and time zone. Some visits are saved as an anonymous replay of scrolling, mouse movement and clicks; anything typed into a form is hidden before it is saved. A random ID is kept in your browser to tell visits apart. We don't store your IP address, don't use advertising trackers, and never sell or share this data; it stays in our own database (hosted by Supabase). If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, none of this runs.

07 Changes to this policy

If a future version ever changes how data is handled, for example by adding an update check, we'll update this page and the date above before releasing it.
